Retirement Statement – Dr. Jeffrey Shannon
Dear Patients, Co-workers, Friends, and Family,
As I reflect on my 38 years in dentistry, with 24 of those cherished years spent here in Mechanicsburg, I am filled with gratitude and nostalgia as I enter that next phase of my life. This journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, and I am profoundly thankful for the experiences and relationships that have shaped my career and life.
From my graduation from Pitt Dental in 1985 to my arrival in Mechanicsburg in 1999, dentistry has been more than just a profession for me. It has been a passion driven by a sincere desire to help people and make a positive impact in their lives. Whether it was through caring for my patients, collaborating with my co-workers, or spending time with friends and family, I have always strived to bring joy and comfort to those around me.
Dentistry presented challenges that tested my resolve, and there were moments when I contemplated leaving the field. However, moving to Mechanicsburg and joining Dr. Unger’s practice was a turning point that revitalized my passion and instilled in me a newfound sense of purpose and pride. Dr. Unger’s mentorship, along with the camaraderie of our team, empowered me to grow both personally and professionally, and for that, I am forever grateful.
The relationships I have forged with my patients and co-workers have been the highlight of my career, offering me a sense of belonging and fulfillment that I had not experienced before. I am sincerely thankful to each and every one of you for your trust, support, and friendship throughout the years.
While I will miss many aspects of dentistry, I am ready to embrace this new chapter of my life with open arms. I will not miss the stress and pressure of striving for perfection every day, but I will always carry with me the memories and lessons learned from this incredible journey.
I am confident that the practice will continue to thrive under the care of Dr. Wylie and Dr. Anzur, two exceptional dentists whom I hold in high regard. To the rest of the team, thank you for your professionalism and unwavering support, both to me and our patients. I have no doubt that you will continue to provide excellent care and service.
Although I may no longer be practicing dentistry, I am not going far. You may still see me around town, enjoying the simple pleasures of life – whether it’s on the golf course, walking my dog Petey, or simply savoring the day with my wife Jamie.
Thank you all for being a part of this incredible journey. I am deeply grateful for your friendship, support, and the memories we have shared. Here’s to new beginnings and cherished memories ahead!
With warm regards,
Dr. Jeffrey Shannon
